Chairman’s Briefing
I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate the speakers and delegates alike for making the National Risk 08 Conference held on the 10th December such a rousing success. It really fired the imagination and renewed the energy of those present to think about how they will make their own arrangements to meet the demands of the National Risk Register.
It was also incredibly heartening to find that our international guests were equally keen to find out how they can adapt the UK model for their own needs. Sweden, the Netherlands, Germany, Estonia and the USA were represented and the sharing of knowledge and experience between nations was extremely useful.

Because we received such a positive response in 2008, I am delighted to announce that we are holding a National Risk 09 Conference on June 10 at the prestigious City Hall, the London Mayor’s Headquarters. This year, the focus will be on the work currently being undertaken in Scotland, Ireland, Wales and England; the national responsibilities of Defra, CPNI, SOCA and BERR; and the international experiences of preparing for man-made and natural disasters.  It promises to be a full and exciting day and a unique opportunity to examine cutting edge ‘best in class’ strategic resilience.  I look forward to seeing you there.
